On Saturday, August 19, 2023, the Kyoraku Centennial Forest Fund Project “Let’s Go Meet Heian Cedar” was held in Ukyo-ku, Kyoto. This event was rescheduled for an event that had been scheduled in the spring and canceled due to heavy snowfall, and was attended by 12 family members.
Two local Katanami nature guides guided the participants and talked about the history of the Fukujo-daisugi cedar forests found in the headwaters of the Katanami River, how local people have used them, and they observed the robust forests as they walked along.

In the afternoon, they visited a layered chart that is believed to date from the Jurassic Period.
At the closing ceremony, the instructors handed children certificates of participation.
This project is being carried out with the support of the Kyoraku Centennial Forest Fund, which was donated to the Association by Kyoraku Co., Ltd. to commemorate its 100th anniversary.
