On March 10, 2023, the Open Seminar” Life in the Hometown and Care of the Forest” was held at the “Prefectural Forest Hiyoshi” in Hiyoshi Town, Nantan City. This event was designed for participants to experience the care of Satoyama and learn about the life and history of this area, which used to supply lumber to Kyoto, the ancient capital of Japan.

Eighteen participants experienced thinning cypress trees in groups under the guidance of the Kyoto Forest Instructors Association. Although it was the first experience for some, they did it skillfully.
