Kyoto Model Forest Association
The KMFA is the first organization in Japan to launch activities with an aim to strengthen forest conservation in accordance with the concept of Model Forest proposed by the Canadian government in 1992. At that time, the International Model Forest Network officially included 39 regions in 18 countries (prior to the Kyoto Model Forest participation). Kyoto has officially joined the International Model Forest Network in 2008. As of 2020, the IMFN has broadened its network to 60 regions in 35 countries. Through participation in the international network, KMFA aims to promote our activities globally and to expand the Kyoto Model Forest Movement, so that we can strive together to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
