The Kyoto Model Forest Association held a field tour for those in charge of the forestry management activities of private companies in non-forestry sectors in Kyoto. On the tour, participants visited timber logging sites, and sawmills owned by a member of the local forestry group. The private companies represented those that undertake forest management activities as a part of their corporate social responsibility, not as their main business activity. After the excursion, the attendees exchanged opinions on the utilization of forest resources, which is currently an important topic to address owing to the underuse of these resources, which is currently driven by decreasing timber prices in Japan.
