KMFA accepted a study tour of the “Sustainable Natural Resource Management Project in Lan Vien Biosphere Reserve” by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on Friday, March 9, 2018.
The tour was held as part of the “Training to strengthen the management capabilities of the Lan Vien Biosphere Reserve in Vietnam by collaborative management” aimed at deepening the understanding of collaborative management activities towards the symbiosis of nature and human society.
In the morning, the tour visited Dr. Kazuhiro Tanaka, (Vice President of KMFA) at Kyoto Prefectural University, and listened to a lecture on the history and current situation of Kyoto Model Forest. Next, they visit the Ginkakujiyama National Forest where Kyoto Prefecture Truck Association is engaged in forestry management activities. At the beginning, a welcome-greeting was given by Vice President Ryuji Hirashima from KPTA. The tour was then guided by Hiroki Hisayama and Keiko Hisayama from Field Society, a partner nonprofit organization that engages in cooperation with KPTA in the field. The participants observed the forest, which is managed in collaboration by several stakeholders including the national government, a private company, and a nonprofit organization.
