"Let's Walk in Chinju Forest & Play with Bamboo Crafts" Held Sponsored by Chuo Warehouse Co., Ltd.

On Saturday, September 30, 2023, the “Let’s Walk in the Chinju Forest & Play with Bamboo Crafts” children’s forest hands-on learning event was held in the vicinity of Iwashimizu Hachimangu Shrine in Yawata City.

A total of 36 people participated in the event, including 19 children from kindergarteners to elementary school students and their parents.

After arriving by bus, participants took the cable car to the top of the mountain.

At the site, the Yahata Bamboo Club, a non-profit organization that maintains the abandoned bamboo groves around Otokoyama, taught the participants bamboo crafts.

After a lunch break around the observatory, which the members neatly maintained, the participants started walking in the forest in groups. They observed the Chinju Forest with the “forest teachers” and the Kyoto Forest Instructors’ Association.

At the end of the tour, each participant received a certificate of participation from the forest teacher, and the itinerary concluded.

The participants said,
“The bamboo-made dragonfly couldn’t turn at first, but it worked eventually. It was fun to be able to turn it!”
”The Cinnamomum camphor tree leaves smelled just like camphor.”

KMFA will continue to hold events to familiarize children with forests in the future with the cooperation and participation of various companies and organizations.
